I love the blessed life, I love my job. It may take five years, but I hit a step and I have a blast

I love the blessed life, I love my job. It may take five years, but I hit a step and I have a blast teaching this year. I decided to go back to the teaching of mathematics (Algebra readiness) after 3-year hiatus. Although I like the English Language Arts better as a student, I think I'm a better teacher of mathematics. I think it's because the ELA came naturally to me as a student, and mathematics was historically BIG fight. It's harder to see where others may struggle when something seems / is so easy. I was a kid, with tears flowing down my cheeks during math tests (yes, even in high school ...) because sutton nebraska newspaper I was so frustrated with numbers and patterns. I do not understand, and I thought that he would never "click" ... but this is not the end and I want to share the hope that is not beyond the frustration of those guys and try to get them when you can not feel that hope. I studied and learned, when, where and how to break the concept down to the basic scaffolding and back again. I feel confident in my abilities. sutton nebraska newspaper I absolutely love seeing the light bulb on, it makes my heart happy when their increased confidence and feel good about their accomplishments as students of mathematics in general. Here are some pictorial collages of some of my students

Adding decimals: Lesson Plan / Support for business
Another great advantage is that the 2012-2013 looped with my students, so I enjoy teaching myself some fun I had as a 7 th graders of 8 years age class. sutton nebraska newspaper They mature teeny, little bit in the summer, I know my OCD classroom routines, and most importantly, that I care about them before the program, "students do not care how much you know until they know how much you care." Nothing to prove to the start of the year, leaving me with little time off, to get these ready to pass Algebra 1 in high school. This is not an easy task. Each 85-minute period is jam packed. We have to go from point to point on the agenda of the agenda every 5-15 minutes to keep them involved and on their toes. I need a nap after each period. It is tiring, but fun and exciting work. The best part is that my students seem to be on board to learn a lot this year. Case in point ... below is part of an email I received sutton nebraska newspaper from a parent of one of my new students who have struggled in the number of cases by the 7 th grade, which made me smile:
"Thank you very much Ms. Latimer was going to e-mail, and ask about his progress as he had the opportunity to attend the second meeting and was very hard on myself after that meeting, but I tried to tell him that it was not entirely his fault [Student classified for special education services at the end of the school year]. since the year began, he told me that you are able to help him become a better student sutton nebraska newspaper and a mother, it really made me happy.
":)
