I've been thinking back and forth: Should I publish all letters from father in law, whaling, or should funny telegram I just write off those who are properly interesting? On the one hand this must be readable, and some of the letters, in particular the first, is not very exciting. At the same time I feel that I should tell the whole story, and it's not as action-packed all the time. Besides, it can be fun for family members who read here to get access to all the letters. So I land there.
In many ways, these texts more diaries than they are letters. Many of them are written far at sea, and it was not often Thorvald got sent a bunch home. Yet there is no doubt about who they are written. At the top of each new page it says: Dear Mom and Signe. In the picture above he stands midway between them, and I firmly believe that the photo was taken either summer 1947 or 1948. His mother was Aagot Møller, and she can earn her own story. I've mentioned her when I wrote about the little cup with a big history. Signe is Thorvald sister and our dear aunt who died in the summer of 2006. Aagot at home in the big house on Lisleby and enjoyed all the letters from his son who was looking for adventure. It was in this house that I came when I met my Thv autumn of 1974, but then had Aagot been dead for five years.
This time I take a letter from three days in October 1948. Thorvald had very sense of renhårige people who made it on their own, and in the letter of 4 October 1948, he seeks in no way to hide his admiration for Captain farm, a man I have been dying to find out more about.
We are now in the middle of the North Sea and it is the right sour and disgusting. It blows a gale, and a good deal of sea, catchers included throwing violently and taking on water over the deck all the time, but Northern Whale is like a mountain in the sea, and we do not even slingrebrett at dinner, which is absolutely first class it får'n say.
Little to do in sickbay. We run and packs up and puts all things. Corpsman is relatively straightforward, that is, he is very keen and do all that I say, but he did not have any nursing experience.
We went in the morning through the Pentland Firth between the Orkney Islands and England. There is still air, and indicates gale or "Gale" across the Scottish coast. Have new pat. (Patient). A've had with the "kids cups" home. Gives them penicillin. We walked along the coast of the Hebrides in the day (and the Scottish coast). It's sunny but windy and miserable end. Life on board is otherwise its smooth running and I like my little window death. Lots of new and strange things. Good night.
Today we walk along the Irish coast and have had Ireland in sight all day. It's sunny and milder (It was pig-like sour out on the deck in the first days). funny telegram Today we have received cleared right up and settled in the pharmacy funny telegram and sick bay. Added a guy with 3 days sick throat. My work is: Office hours from 8-9. (Breakfast at half 8). After office hours I will bring down what is done and stuff with them in the sick bay, I'm in all instances come leisurely finished until 10
Superintendent funny telegram is otherwise a great theme, he's on his own without the addition of advanced cabin boy on sailing ships to the position he has now (server maybe 150,000 a year). On board ranks him between the king and our lord and his word is law as it is called. He knows everything and knows everything there is to do on the North Whales. He can provide anesthesia and cut fingers and have read thick books with medicinske dividends. He is a trained baker and radio operator. He is in fatty acids (whale oil) higher chemistry as he discusses the chemistry scientist aboard. He's just a good grasp of the machine engineer, otherwise he has on his own learned English, German funny telegram and French perfectly, as farm manager is a bit of a force, and one that is not easy to fool.
It's touching that the sale laesa old letters and see the picture holders. Have you tænkt on, that you can overcharge a copy to the local historical archives? I even haft very Glæder af the local historical archives, when I would loose more about my slægt.
I also think it is touching, Madame, and I hear father in law's funny telegram voice in my head as I read and write. We have considered giving it to a hvalfangermuseeum, but it's funny telegram probably a bit early for us yet. We have a daughter in the house who train the historian, and perhaps she will use this material to any page. In the second season he was out, filmed Thorvald pretty much. This material has considered getting onto DVD - and then we could maybe give the films to a museum. We'll see - but time is not emotionally mature enough that we will provide it from us just yet.
You may well tage of all the letters, and those which are kedelige, get a few pictures or comments. There is, as you victory, funny telegram something that the whole picture clamor spændende and helhedsbilledet include fortunately "kedelige" periods, where you can relax suffered af.
I think that ship in the picture (which must be an af h
